This course emphasizes competence in reading and writing. Students will explore a variety of themes and concepts presented in the novels, plays, essays, poetry and short stories of major American writers. Emphasis is placed on the understanding of literature and reader response to literature. Major works covered in English 3 include Black Boy, Our Town, Member of the Wedding, and Catcher in the Rye. Additionally, business and technical writing skills will be developed.
