This is the first charter high school in St. Louis. It is dedicated to
preparing students for a productive life in our community through
well-rounded academics, technical information for a profession, and a broad
exposure to the construction industry.
The opportunities and rewards are great in America's
largest industry, and the Construction
Careers Center
will provide its students with many paths for success. This unique
program will instill the discipline and teach the skills needed to enter
either construction apprenticeships or higher education.

The Construction Careers Center
is located in the City of St.
Louis at 1224 Grattan, just east of Lafayette Square
and west of Soulard. The building is a remodeled city school with
many features designed specifically for its curriculum and programs.
It is an area of substantial new residential and commercial
development. Close to downtown, it has convenient access to both
highways I-55 and I-44.
The Construction
Careers Center
opened in the Fall of 2001 with only a freshmen class and our first senior
class graduated in 2005. There is no charge to attend this charter
school for students in grade 9 through 12. The school year runs from
late in August through July as an 11-month program. The focus is on
learning hands-on skills. Students can pursue either a construction
apprenticeship or a college path. Both paths lead to many career
opportunities in construction: architect, manager, craftworker,
designer, engineer, field supervisor, inspector, and supplier are just a
few of the careers related to the construction industry.

The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of St.
Louis embarked on the venture to provide a new educational
resource for the St. Louis
construction industry - the charter high school. The Construction Careers Center
has proven to be a win/win for young people, their parents, and the
community. The school is a model for partnerships between industry,
associations, labor, education, philanthropy and government.
The Construction
Careers Center
will establish high expectations that will challenge all students to reach
their maximum potential; it will also provide a positive environment where
each student will find the resources and support for success.
Students are eligible to apply to the Construction Careers Center who
are at least 14 years old, have completed the eighth grade, and either live
in the city of St. Louis, or are other than African- Americans living in
one of the following St. Louis County school districts: Affton,
Bayless, Brentwood, Clayton, Hazelwood, Kirkwood, Ladue, Lindbergh,
Mehlville, Parkway, Pattonville, Ritenour, Rockwood, Valley Park, or Webster
Groves.
The deadline to apply for the fall semester of 2007-2008 is June 30,
2007. Applications postmarked after this date will be
considered on a space available basis. As per Title 9, Section 504,
the Construction
Careers Center
does not discriminate in its admission or employment. Inquiries
should be directed to the Title 9, Section 504 Coordinator.
