BB/BS gives freshmen through senior students the chance to interact with
mentors who are industry professionals. The “Bigs” meet with their “Littles”
monthly to discuss and explore opportunities to help achieve life goals. The
program had over 30 matches in 2010.
The Ameren Skilled Craft Education Program is set up for seniors interested in a career at
an electrical power plant. This program allows students to learn from skilled workers, view
hands-on demonstrations during field trips and practice mock interviews in preparation for
potential employment.
The Construction Career Coaching Program (CCCP) encourages students to pursue careers in construction
and contracting. Seniors meet with coaches from industry who assist with skills necessary for success in
the industry. For 2010, the CCC had 12 AGC member coaches.
Project Lead The Way is an in-school program for students interested in a career in
architecture or engineering. PLTW began in 2009, and helps develop students’ critical
thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Ranken Technical College has partnered with CCC to provide a dual enrollment
program for seniors. This opportunity is open to all students at no cost who are prepared
to pass the Ranken entrance exam and interview process.
The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) offered a
summer internship program to CCC. Over 50 CCC graduates and students
participated with employment covering a wide range of firms and locations
throughout the metro area.
